This is one of those places in Minneapolis that holds a heckuvalotta nostalgia for me. I lived a few blocks from this special lil place during college and would come down to the stone arch bridge area often. I had some of my best "dates with Jesus" on these little cobblestone streets. Patrick and I went on many runs down here, and had butterflies-in-our-tummies just figuring out that we really kind of really like each other kind of dates. And eventually we got engaged around here. My friends and I watched the Holiday at the old-fashioned movie theatre down here, crossed the bridge, and pranced around downtown just gabbing away til we realized we had miles left to walk to get back home. Don't send me here when I'm feeling sappy or I'll start writing poems and singing songs on the bridge.

I think it's so great, and actually important, to have a place like that. For me, it's probably Colonial Williamsburg - we went there every year growing up, so it's like my second home - or Roche Harbor, where my grandparent's have their boat and we've spent many Fourth of July's.
